Contributors Uncle who served with the RIR No. 18672. Was life and experience was captured in the book 'Ballymoney Heroes 1914-1918'. Sergeant Ramsey was born in Culmore, Kilrea and enlisted in Ballymoney. Before the war he worked in the linen trade as a linen lapper at Clarke's of Upperlands. He enlisted in September 1914 and went to Clandeboye camp for initial training. He was then promoted to Lance Corporal and was warned by his superior officers to keep his former mates at a distance, but his answer was that they had always been his pals and nothing would change, not even three stripes.
