Additional Information   William James McCracken born 11th August 1887 and a graduate of Queen's University, Belfast. William joined the Royal Naval Division - HMS Hood and was a doctor - Staff Surgeon, during the war he commited an outstanding act of bravery winning him the DSO and MC. History confirms he went into no mans land, captured a German hospital along with all the Doctors and brought back around 150 wounded british soldiers to the British lines. William survived the war and went to Yorkshire were he remained in the medical profession, he married and had two daughters (who also became doctors). Mr McCracken died on the 10th August 1974 aged 87.
