Keith Liley

Dr Keith Lilley is an historical geographer at Queen's University Belfast whose particular research interests lie in maps and mapping, as well as landscape history and urban history. He has led research projects in areas that include digitally mapping historic cities, such as Chester, Swansea, and Derry/Londonderry, as well as directing projects on digitizing historic maps. He works closely with historians and archaeologists, and is currently developing new research in collaboration with the University of Kent and the Imperial War Museum on First World War trench maps of the Western Front. He can offer particular expertise on researching historic landscapes, as well as how to use mapping and other geographical approaches to understand how the past lives on in the present.
