The '2016 Committee' have organised a parade and re-enactment to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the start of the Battle of the Somme, 1st July 1916.
Parades will leave North, South, East and West Belfast at approx 10:30am on 18th June, they will meet in Belfast City Centre for wreath laying.
The combined parade will then make its way to Woodvale Park for a re-enactment of the first day of the Battle of the Somme which will start around 1:30pm.

Free Lunchtime Lecture: Professor Brendan Kelly, "Shock, Shell Shock and the 1916 Easter Rising" Time 1pm – 2pm Lecture Theatre, Ulster Museum Free (Booking essential) This lecture will focus on "shock" and "shell shock" during the 1916 Easter Rising and the First World War. More specifically, it will explore the effects of the 1916 Easter Rising on admissions to Dublin asylums for "shock" and outline the story of the Richmond War Hospital, a shell shock hospital that operated in Dublin from 1916 to 1919. The contemporary relevance of these developments will be discussed, as well as the ways in which these events changed the practices of psychiatry and psychology in the early 20th century. Brendan Kelly is Professor of Psychiatry at Trinity College Dublin and Consultant Psychiatrist at Tallaght Hospital, Dublin. Book tickets online at:www.nmni.com/1916.
