‘Living Legacies 1914-18’ connects academic and community researchers interested in exploring the impacts and legacies of World War 1.‌

‌‌Our academic researchers specialise in working with community researchers on WW1 centenary projects. We want to share our enthusiasm and expertise with you and your WW1 research!

There are a number of ways to get involved with our centre's researchers and projects, nationwide:

1. If you have an existing WW1 community-based project, Living Legacies can help with specific aspects of your research. This might include seeking speakers to give talks to your group, or involving our centre’s researchers in some of your project’s activities and research, or you may wish to join in with some of our centre public outreach events and activities and use these to meet other community groups and publicise your work.

2. If you are a community group interested in developing a WW1 centenary project, Living Legacies offers practical advice and guidance on ways of funding your project (eg through HLF's 'First World War: Then and Now' scheme), as well as offering ways of drawing on our expertise to help your project achieve more and to have greater impact and legacy. Our centre has friendly and experienced Project Officers who can be assigned to your WW1 research project to help think through what you wish to do, and how to do it.

• What to do next: Contact our Project Manager, Elaine Reid, and she will help link you with one of our Project Officers to start the process off, and browse our past and present community projects web-pages for some ideas on how we work with communities on WW1 heritage.

3. If you are an academic researcher in the UK working on aspects of WW1 heritage, and your research interests align with those of Living Legacies researchers, you are welcome to join our Research Network. Joining the network will put you in touch with community projects and university researchers across the UK working on topics relevant to your research areas and also keep you up to date with news on Living Legacies events and activities you might wish to take part in.
